Sleeper's awake
When I can't sleep (increasingly more often) I can't turn my brain off. Mostly the worry mechanism is working overtime. I can't turn it off, and I don't want to take a pill. People say to try counting backwards etc, but I worry in between digits, and If I try not to think of a certain issue it's there even louder. (often called the ironic process theory)
Once there was a guy who worked in maintenance here, who had a hidden little room with a hammock, it was found and he was fired. I could use s secret hammock about now.

I am so with you on this. I sleep terrible because I cannot slow my mind down enough. Last night at 3:00am I heard a commercial for sleeping pills. I just can't do it.
Sometimes I turn on the TV and in doing so trick my mind into not thinking about my stuff and conk out. The risk is that you may get intereted in the program.
Damn I worry like a mofo though!
I get no-sleep-worry-head all the time. Usually especially before parent conferences with my clients or travel on airplanes, or sometimes for no real reason. I hate it. Now I will have no-sleep-worry-head about possible embarrassing photos on the mintez blog.
The TV is the best - I usually put it on something like Nick at Night so I can listen to some old 80's show. BUT- Sleeping pills are good! I suggest Trazadon-(sp?) it is an antidepressant of sorts. Sometimes it makes me have some funky dreams but I sleep good.
In the 60s the Playmates and a great song about "Worry". Now it is stuck in my head.
watch the same movie every night. you'll get used to it and it will lull you to sleep. it has to be something that you know almost every word of.
